Wood Cremation Urns; Urns made of wood range in shape from more traditional box or cube-shaped urn to those crafted from rescue wood and turned on lathes. The box-shaped urns are ideal for those who wish to embellish them with additional decoration like a military or other meaningful insignia or medal. The more artistic cremation urns in wood are more vase-shaped or even box-shaped with etching or other natural decorations such as inlaid semi-precious gemstones. Common woods for urns are elder, maple and mahogany.

So collectors today search out all kinds of funeral related items. Old funeral carts, funeral programs, urns, you name it! If it is old enough someone somewhere is collecting it. This might seem a lilt odd to some people but really it is nice to have piece of history. And that is what they are doing, collecting history. Some of the old urns can resemble beautiful vases. Nobody objects to collecting vases.
For example, if you had a dog, you might display some pictures of your dog from the time he was a puppy all the way until his most recent photos before his death. Additionally, you might place his favorite bone next to the dog urn for an added, personalized touch. You can do something similar for a cat or rabbit. Photos are always best because they are a timeless form of decorating and can blend well with any type of décor. You can also keep the area stark and simple, with a few simple lights aimed strategically around your urn to put the focus completely on the design and meaning of the urn. This is another dramatic way in which your pet urn can be displayed in your home. Uplighting from beneath the urn always adds a beautiful touch.
